Printed for Genesis P-Orridge's years in New York, this business card gives its holder a job title, Cultural Engineer, and a promise across the top: "Your 15 minutes just became eternity." The line takes Andy Warhol's fifteen minutes of fame and makes them permanent. No date is printed; the Yahoo address on the reverse places the card after Yahoo Mail launched in 1997, and the name it carries is Genesis P-Orridge, which together point to the late 1990s or early 2000s. The front sets a portrait of P-Orridge against three bands of blue, red and brown, with the name in yellow calligraphic lettering and four sigils in pink below, among them the Throbbing Gristle flash and the psychick cross of Psychic TV and Thee Temple ov Psychick Youth. The reverse repeats the four sigils in grey over a dark photographic ground, with a P.O. box at Peter Stuyvesant Station, New York, N.Y. 10009, a 718 telephone and fax number, an email address and genesisp-orridge.com. From the James Birch Collection. 8.9 × 5 cm. Fine, with faint signs of age and light wear to the corners. A business card is made to be handed out and thrown away; this one kept both the job title and the promise.
