Collection: Raymond Pettibon

Raymond Pettibon (b. 1957) — American artist known for densely captioned ink drawings that move between punk culture, literature, sport, politics, and violence. Emerging from the Los Angeles underground of the early 1980s — designing record sleeves and flyers for SST Records and Black Flag — Pettibon developed a practice in which image and text operate in productive friction: neither illustrating nor explaining the other. His work entered major institutional contexts from the 1990s onward while retaining the graphic directness of its origins.
