Annie Leibovitz

Annie Leibovitz (b. 1949) began her career as a staff photographer at Rolling Stone in 1970, where she worked for thirteen years and developed a documentary approach to portraiture that moved between political reportage, personal photography and magazine assignment. Her early work, made across the Bay Area, Israel and beyond, was first surveyed comprehensively by the LUMA Foundation in Arles in 2017 and subsequently presented at Hauser & Wirth Los Angeles in 2019 as Archive Project No. 1.
