Proposition

The New Rare takes the form of a bookstore.
Its actual medium is displacement.

It operates through familiar formats: inventory, listing, description, price, sale. Within those structures, exhibition ephemera, artists' books, printed documents, and related paper objects are given another kind of attention.

Invitations, folded guides, posters, catalogues, pamphlets, announcements — minor traces not treated as supplementary matter, but as objects whose authorship, function, and status remain unsettled.

The project asks when ephemera stops acting only as evidence and begins to operate as form. Not through alteration, but through position. Selection, framing, adjacency, and transfer allow these materials to reappear under changed conditions: no longer only records of exhibitions, but partial survivals of them.

The website functions as both storefront and exhibition structure: a place where paper is reclassified, where context produces value, and where minor objects are allowed to exceed their initial use.

Nothing is transformed exactly. A pamphlet remains a pamphlet. A poster remains a poster. But each enters a system in which ownership, display, circulation, and designation become part of how it is read.

The question is not only what the object is, but what can be made to happen around it.
