Condition: very good; light rubbing and fine surface marks to the clear jacket, with minor pressure wear at the edges. Grey cloth boards, gold-stamped lettering and blind-embossed cover image remain well preserved. Clean interior and secure binding.

Published for Lüthi’s exhibition at the Bonner Kunstverein, 20 September–21 November 1993, and subsequently associated with presentations in Klagenfurt, Bremen, Freiburg and Wiesbaden through 1995. The artist devised the catalogue concept himself, shaping the book as a substantial survey rather than leaving it to function as a neutral institutional record.

Since his photographic self-portraits of 1970, Lüthi has repeatedly used his own body to test the instability of gender, identity and representation. Moving through photography, performance, painting and graphic language, he treats the self less as a fixed subject than as an image capable of continual alteration.

The book gathers more than two decades of that movement. Repeated self-images, performances, paintings and diagrammatic works pass through a single publication designed under the artist’s direction. Its restrained grey cloth cover carries Lüthi’s name in gold above a nearly submerged portrait: identity registered first as title, then as impression.
