Postcard, Man Ray, Tonsure (Marcel Duchamp), 1921. Published by Fotofolio, New York, with Man Ray Trust credit to verso. Offset reproduction on cream card stock, 15 × 10 cm. Unposted.
A small printed afterlife of one of the great Dada images. Man Ray’s photograph records Duchamp as both subject and intervention: the body turned into support, the haircut into gesture, the portrait into document. Issued by Fotofolio, the postcard places that image back into circulation as accessible printed matter — part reproduction, part art-historical shorthand, part portable archive.
Within The New Rare register, this sits between postcard, document, and secondary image-object. Not rare in the sense of unique, but not common in clean current circulation either. Its value is in the convergence: Man Ray, Duchamp, Dada, Fotofolio, and the survival of a small printed support from the later circulation of the image.
Condition: Good vintage condition. Light handling wear, minor age toning, small marks to verso, and slight corner softness. Image side presents well. Ships flat and protected; Track & Trace registered EU mail available.
