A companion to the earlier Seven Deadly Sins, this paperback assigned seven conventional virtues to seven feminist writers, each approaching her subject through fiction and satire. Published by Serpent’s Tail and selected for Feminist Book Fortnight, it places Acker’s experimental writing beside an important group of British feminist novelists working across realism, politics and formally disruptive fiction.
The allocation is part of the structure: Acker receives humility, Fell chastity and Roberts charity. Moral categories become editorial prompts, while seven distinct writers are formatted into one collective proposition.
