Addressed verso to Roberto Dionisio, Roman artist and participant in the postwar Italian contemporary-art scene, with Galleria L’Attico rubber stamp. Originally folded and sent through the post. Central rectangular cut-out, reportedly from the later removal of a postage stamp.

Rare mailed poster-announcement for Jack Smith’s Padronismo di Pastacrosta, presented through Fabio Sargentini’s Galleria L’Attico in Rome in 1975. L’Attico was one of the key Italian spaces for postwar experimentation, moving between Surrealist inheritance, Arte Povera, performance, film, and anti-institutional forms of exhibition.

Padronismo di Pastacrosta does not appear to have been a formal movement, but rather one of Smith’s invented theatrical systems: a mock doctrine, absurdist title, and anti-authoritarian structure. It sits close to pataphysical logic, but through Smith’s own antagonism toward landlords, ownership, taste, and mainstream cultural order.

The Dionisio address turns the poster from unused gallery stock into a mailed object within a specific Roman network. It is not simply an announcement for an event, but a circulated support: printed, folded, posted, received, retained, cut, and returned to circulation.

Condition: Vintage handled condition, with folds, creasing, toning, edge wear, surface marks, and central stamp-removal incision. The incision is treated as part of the object’s record: evidence of mailing, extraction, and transfer.
