Original vernissage invitation for Dada | Surréalisme | Avant-Gardes: Un siècle de collage en Belgique, a survey of a century of Belgian collage and surrealist image practice at the Centre Wallonie-Bruxelles, Paris. Artists represented include René Magritte, Marcel Mariën, Pierre Alechinsky, E.L.T. Mesens, André Stas, and others.
The cover reproduces Marcel Mariën’s Parler de soie (1975): a compressed collage-image combining glamour photography, fragmentation, and surrealist détournement. The invitation retains its original printed insert from the Librairie Wallonie-Bruxelles — a small literary supplement referencing Belgian writers including Amélie Nothomb, Georges Simenon, Maurice Maeterlinck, and Henri Michaux.
A concise example of late-1990s institutional print culture: exhibition announcement, mailing object, and cultural distribution support folded into a single paper form. Complete examples with inserts intact appear infrequently.
Condition: Good vintage condition. Light handling wear and age toning consistent with period printed ephemera. Insert present and intact.
Shipping and handling included.
