Collection: Josh Smith
Josh Smith (b. 1976, Okinawa, Japan) is a New York-based painter and publisher whose practice moves between large-scale painting, printmaking, artist books and institutional critique. Known for serial works that foreground the mechanics of production and repetition — name paintings, fish paintings, abstract monochromes — Smith treats the studio as a system and the edition as a site of variation rather than uniformity. He co-founded 38th Street Publishers with Todd Amicon, issuing artist books and publications that operate at the intersection of art, poetry and downtown New York culture. This collection gathers publications, artist books and printed ephemera by or featuring Smith, including titles produced through 38th Street Publishers.
