Anish Kapoor (born 1954) is a British-Indian sculptor whose works in pigment, stone, steel, and wax engage with ideas of void, presence, and the limits of perception. His early pigment works, shown in exhibitions including The Sculpture Show at the Hayward Gallery in 1983, established him as a significant figure in British sculpture of that decade. He won the Turner Prize in 1991, represented Britain at the Venice Biennale in 1990, and has since produced monumental public works including Cloud Gate (2004, Chicago) and ArcelorMittal Orbit (2012, London).
