Exhibition catalogue published for the joint show of Joe Tilson and Gerd Winner at Haus am Waldsee, Berlin, 31 October–29 November 1970. Softcover with black card covers and a narrow red cloth spine, 36 pages, 20 × 18.5 cm. Contains a foreword by Pat Gilmour and Thomas Kempas, an introduction to screenprinting, artist biographies and exhibition histories, and 16 illustrations including two screenprints. German language.

The book has the authority of a workshop manual. Inside, Rolls-Royces, refuse trucks, road markings and political halftones briefly occupy the same industrial register. At the turn of the 1970s, Tilson was moving beyond the metropolitan polish of British Pop toward politics, landscape and myth. Winner, a German artist working closely with London’s urban machinery, translated lorries, docks and municipal systems into sharply controlled photographic screenprints. Here, their practices meet just before pulling decisively apart.

Condition: Good vintage condition, with light handling wear consistent with age.
