Condition: Good. General age toning, scattered marks and foxing, with rubbing, softened edges and wear along the original folds. Contemporary pencilled price notation to the front. Complete with the separate illustrated checklist of 21 exhibited works.

Born in Havana, Jorge Camacho moved to Paris in 1959 and became closely associated with the Surrealist circle after meeting André Breton in 1961. By the late 1960s, alchemy had become central to his work, developed through exchanges with writers and researchers including Bernard Roger, who contributed the text for this exhibition.

Le Ton Haut unfolds across three connected panels. Camacho’s emblems are placed beside adapted historical engravings, circular inscriptions and Roger’s text, while the separate leaf lists the 21 paintings shown at Galerie Mathias Fels. The exhibition catalogue takes the structure of a small hermetic manual: image, language and symbol arranged for repeated reading rather than simple documentation.

The publication was issued in 1,000 copies. Forty numbered examples included an original signed etching and the signatures of Camacho and Roger; this is the standard exhibition issue, retaining its original checklist.

The paper has darkened and gathered marks through storage and handling, making the folds increasingly visible. Opened fully, the administrative form of an exhibition catalogue gives way to a continuous field of diagrams, fragments and coded images.
