Condition: Very good. Unposted. Light age toning, minor surface wear and slight corner softening.

Hamilton reconstructed The Large Glass for Duchamp’s 1966 Tate retrospective when the fragile original could not travel from Philadelphia. Working from Duchamp’s notes and with his approval, Hamilton produced a version that occupied an uncertain position between copy, translation and renewed construction. It entered the Tate collection in 1975 as a gift from William N. Copley through the American Federation of Arts.

The printer’s code 5M1281 appears to record a run of 5,000 copies produced in December 1981. Tate later remade the reconstruction’s lower panel in 1985, leaving this card as a reproduction of its earlier institutional state.
