Published by the Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven, for Barry Flanagan’s exhibition of sculpture from 1966–1976, this catalogue brings together photographic reproductions and a text by Rudi Fuchs, signed R. H. Fuchs. The illustrated works include Sand Muslin (1966), Rope (3) (1966), Heap (1) (1968) and Pile (3) (1968): arrangements of muslin, rope, canvas, hessian and sand in which weight, folding, suspension and the handling of materials determine sculptural form. Fuchs’s essay considers Flanagan’s apparent looseness of production in relation to practical skill and the expectations of avant-garde sculpture. This copy includes a stapled, typewritten exhibition checklist headed “Van Abbemuseum Eindhoven”, dated 10 June–10 July 1977. Across three photographed checklist pages, entries record titles, dates, materials, dimensions and lenders, with acknowledgements in Dutch and English at the end. The checklist names lenders including the Tate Gallery, the Victoria and Albert Museum, and Art and Project, Amsterdam; these are exhibition loan credits, not evidence of this copy’s ownership history. Condition recorded as good, with some page toning; the checklist is legible, with show-through from the reverse. The accompanying list places the catalogue’s reproduced sculptures within the administrative record of their exhibition.
