Koos Breukel

Koos Breukel (born 1962) is a Dutch photographer known for his large-format, psychologically intense portrait work. Working with long exposure times and an unusually close relationship with his subjects, his portraits register minute physical detail — skin, hair, expression — with a stillness that places them at the boundary between documentary record and psychological study. He has exhibited widely in the Netherlands and internationally, with work held in major Dutch public collections.
