Original exhibition guide published for Ulrich Rückriem, Kunstraum München e.V., 21.3.1974 – 5.5.1974. The publication combines an essay by Hermann Kern (Ergänzung zu den Ergänzungsstücken von Ulrich Rückriem), a floor plan of the Kunstraum, a checklist of six exhibited works, and an announcement of the accompanying edition of 27 offset prints (KUNSTRAUM-Grundriß), loose in a linen cassette, signed in the imprint, edition of 110, format 42 × 29.7 cm, price DM 110, available to KUNSTRAUM members only.
The cover reproduces the Kunstraum floor plan — Vorplatz, Zi.A, Zi.B, Eingang — in architectural line drawing, reflecting Rückriem’s precise engagement with space, geometry, and placement. The back cover reproduces a partial floor plan showing Zi.C and Bad, one of the drawings exhibited as Ergänzungsstück to the gallery’s own architecture.
Issued when Rückriem was establishing the sculptural language that would define his career, this guide documents his early Ergänzungsstücke — works in which found stone or steel elements were completed through carefully measured interventions. The six exhibited works include forged steel bars (Galerio Paul Maenz, Köln), a found steel ring completed into a disc, and a found steel plate (Dr. Heiner Oettli, Fislisbach) completed into a rectangle. Produced just before his international breakthrough, the guide captures a formative moment in post-Minimal and Conceptual sculpture when process, material, and site became inseparable.
Rather than functioning solely as documentation, the booklet records the exhibition as a spatial proposition. Floor plan, checklist, essay, and publication data remain together as a printed support for an exhibition that no longer exists.
Shipping and handling included in the listed price. Carefully packed in an archival sleeve with rigid protective backing.
