Private view invitation issued by Galerie Knoedler, 85 bis rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, Paris VIIIᵉ, for Images de Jacques Prévert. Vernissage: mardi 10 décembre 1963 à 17 heures. Exposition du 10 décembre 1963 au 10 janvier 1964. Tél. BAL 59-78.

Issued by the Paris branch of Galerie Knoedler to announce an exhibition devoted to the visual work of Jacques Prévert (1900–1977). Although internationally celebrated as one of France’s great poets and screenwriters — known for films such as Les Enfants du Paradis — Prévert also maintained a significant parallel practice producing collages, assemblages, and poetic visual compositions. By the early 1960s these works were receiving increasing institutional and commercial attention, with Knoedler providing an important venue for presenting them to the Paris art world.

The card reflects the restrained graphic language of mid-century French gallery printing: generous margins, serif typography, and the artist’s name rendered in elegant script. The invitation functions as a printed point of transfer. It carries little more than a name, a place, and a set of dates. Once its immediate purpose had passed, the card remained as evidence of an encounter between artist, gallery, and audience. Its blank reverse and economical design reinforce its status as an administrative object whose significance has shifted through retention rather than alteration.
