The recto reproduces Production Still (2014), photographed by Tarun Chopra, depicting two young rhesus macaques in quiet exchange on an ornate stone parapet — a characteristic image from Thater’s ongoing investigations into animals, ecology, perception, and the mediated experience of nature.

Emerging in the 1990s, Diana Thater became one of the most influential artists working with large-scale video installation. Combining projected moving images, coloured light, and architectural space, her work questions how technology shapes our understanding of the natural world. Life Is a Time-Based Medium continued these concerns, presenting immersive installations that blurred distinctions between documentary, cinema, and environmental experience.

The invitation functions as both exhibition announcement and image carrier. One side circulates the exhibition through administrative information; the other retains a single photographic moment extracted from a time-based work. Removed from its original mailing context, it becomes a compact record of the exhibition’s public circulation and of Hauser & Wirth’s programme during a significant period in Thater’s career.
