An early institutional publication devoted to Charlotte Posenenske, issued by the Museum für Moderne Kunst, Frankfurt am Main in 1990 as part of its Schriften zur Sammlung series. Texts by Burkhard Brunn, Friedrich Meschede and Hans Ulrich Reck; German and English throughout. Softcover, 84 pages, 18.5 × 24 cm; colour and black-and-white illustrations.

The catalogue traces Posenenske’s move from painting and relief into the serial, industrially fabricated Vierkantrohre works: modular elements designed to be produced repeatedly, assembled differently and placed beyond the control of a singular artistic hand. Archival photographs show the sculptures operating in galleries, industrial interiors and public sites rather than simply being presented as autonomous objects.

Posenenske stopped producing art in 1968 and turned instead to sociology. That withdrawal is central to the work rather than incidental to it. She rejected scarcity, fixed composition and the conventional idea of the unique art object, establishing conditions in which a work could remain materially reproducible while its configuration, ownership and placement continued to change.

The publication predates the broad international reassessment of Posenenske and belongs to the period when her work still circulated through a comparatively narrow institutional history. It records the work before the consensus around its importance had fully formed — a document from one moment in the construction of an artist’s history, subsequently carried forward, redistributed and re-read.

Condition: Good. General handling and surface wear to wrappers, light edge and corner wear, with a small area of paper loss and adhesive residue to the lower rear cover. Interior well preserved.
