Collection: Will Insley

Will Insley (1929–2011) was an American artist who developed an elaborately conceived imaginary architecture across drawings, paintings, and written texts, describing an interior world — the ONECITY — governed by its own spatial, social, and temporal systems. Working at a scale that exceeded conventional construction, his practice occupied a territory between architectural drawing, Conceptual Art, and speculative fiction. Insley participated in 6 Artists, 6 Exhibitions at the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, in 1968, and his work entered the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, and the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington D.C.
