Collection: Simon Read
Simon Read (born 1949) is a British artist whose practice has engaged photography, drawing, and environmental investigation over several decades. Working in the 1970s within the British Conceptual Art milieu, his photographic works examined landscape, mapping, and systems of knowledge. He participated in the Arts Council of Great Britain touring exhibition Artist and Camera (1980), placing his practice in direct dialogue with peers including Victor Burgin, John Hilliard, and Stephen Willats. Read subsequently developed an extended practice focused on estuary ecology and environmental advocacy, undertaking long-term projects on the Thames and Suffolk coasts.
