Collection: Ryan McGinley
Ryan McGinley (b. 1977, Ramsey, New Jersey) emerged from the downtown New York scene of the early 2000s, initially documenting his circle of friends in a diaristic, intimate mode. His practice expanded into large-scale staged photography: bodies in motion through open American landscapes, colour used as atmosphere, and youth as both subject and condition.
McGinley’s work has been exhibited at the Whitney Museum of American Art, Galerie Perrotin (Paris, New York, Hong Kong), Team Gallery, and major institutions internationally. He was the youngest photographer to have a solo exhibition at the Whitney, in 2003.
This collection gathers exhibition invitations, catalogues, and printed matter relating to McGinley’s practice.
