Collection: Orly Cogan

Orly Cogan is an Israeli-American artist whose embroidered and hand-stitched works combine found vintage fabric — tablecloths, bed linens and other domestic textiles — with imagery drawn from folk art, fairy tale, sexuality and female archetypes. Her practice uses the conventions of needlework and domestic craft to address questions of femininity, desire, myth and the body. Cogan has exhibited widely in the United States and her work is held in public and private collections. She contributed to Bald Ego no. 2 (2002), edited by Glenn O’Brien and Max Blagg.
