Collection: Nick Tosches

Nick Tosches (1949–2019) was an American writer, journalist and poet whose work spanned music biography, fiction and cultural history with an idiosyncratic and often transgressive energy. His music biographies — including Hellfire: The Jerry Lee Lewis Story (1982), Unsung Heroes of Rock ’n’ Roll (1984) and Dino: Living High in the Dirty Business of Dreams (1992) — are regarded as essential texts in American popular music writing. His novel In the Hand of Dante (2002) interwove a fictional account of the discovery of Dante’s original manuscript with a contemporary New York crime narrative. Tosches contributed to Bald Ego no. 2 (2002) and was closely associated with the downtown New York literary scene.
