Collection: Michael Bolus

Michael Bolus (born 1934, Cape Town) is a British sculptor who emerged as one of the central figures of the New Generation group associated with the St Martins School of Art in London during the 1960s. Working primarily in steel and fibreglass, his practice explored colour, extension and the relationship between sculptural form and floor space, moving decisively away from the pedestal-bound object. He participated in the landmark New Generation exhibition at the Whitechapel Gallery in 1965 and was included in the Hayward Gallery survey The Condition of Sculpture in 1975.
