Laura Letinsky

Laura Letinsky (born 1962) is a Canadian photographer and educator based in Chicago whose still-life photographs examine the remains of meals, domestic interiors and the aftermath of consumption. Working with large-format film photography, her images address desire, time, domestic labour and the conventions of the still-life genre as inherited from seventeenth-century Dutch and Flemish painting. Letinsky is a professor in the Department of Visual Arts at the University of Chicago and her work has been exhibited internationally and collected by major institutions including the Art Institute of Chicago and the Museum of Contemporary Photography, Chicago.
