Collection: Krzysztof Wodiczko

Krzysztof Wodiczko (born 1943) is a Polish-born artist and theorist whose practice since the early 1980s has centred on large-scale projections onto public monuments, civic buildings and urban architecture. His projections overlay the facades of official monuments — war memorials, civic statues, government buildings — with images that expose the structures of power, displacement, homelessness, militarism and political violence they conceal or celebrate. Born in Warsaw and educated at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts, Wodiczko subsequently worked in Canada and the United States and is a professor at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. His work has been exhibited at Documenta 8 (1987) and major institutions internationally including the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
