Collection: John Yau

John Yau (born 1950, United States) is an American poet, art critic and curator whose writing has engaged with abstract and figurative painting, Asian-American identity and the relationship between language and visual art. He arrived in New York in 1975 and has written extensively on artists including Suzan Frecon, whom he began following that year, as well as Ed Moses, Jasper Johns and many others. Yau is a contributing editor at Hyperallergic and has written catalogue essays for institutions and galleries including David Zwirner. He has published numerous collections of poetry and critical writing, and has taught at the Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University.
