Collection: John Nixon
John Nixon (born 1949) is an Australian artist based in Sydney whose practice centres on painting and abstraction, engaging with questions of reduction, monochrome, materiality and the limits of the painted object. Working since the 1970s, he has developed a sustained and rigorous practice that connects to international traditions of Concrete and systematic abstraction while maintaining a distinctly independent position. Nixon has exhibited widely in Australia and internationally over several decades and his work is held in significant public collections. He was included in Surprise, Surprise at Galerie Jean Greset, Besançon, in 2013.
