Collection: John Godfrey

John Godfrey (born 1945) is an American poet associated with the second generation of the New York School whose work is known for its compressed energy, urban textures and engagement with street life, jazz and the physical experience of New York City. His collections include Dabble (1982) and Push the Mule (2011), published by Flood Editions. Godfrey has been a significant if underrecognised figure in the post-New York School tradition and contributed to Bald Ego no. 2 (2002), edited by Glenn O’Brien and Max Blagg.
