Collection: Joe Andoe

Joe Andoe (born 1955) is an American painter from Tulsa, Oklahoma, whose canvases depict animals, plants and natural forms emerging from dark, atmospheric grounds in a style that combines realism with a painterly economy of means. His work draws on the landscape and fauna of the American plains and engages questions of solitude, nature and the uncanny within a tradition of American romantic painting. Andoe has exhibited at the Sperone Westwater Gallery, New York, and his work is held in significant private and public collections. He contributed to Bald Ego no. 2 (2002), edited by Glenn O’Brien and Max Blagg.
