Collection: Jean-Yves Jouannais

Jean-Yves Jouannais (b. 1964) is a French writer, critic and curator whose work has consistently addressed failure, idiocy and the aesthetics of incompletion as artistic positions rather than deficiencies. His sustained project on fiasco — developed through exhibitions, books and public lectures — proposes that the deliberate withdrawal of mastery, the embrace of error and the refusal of resolution constitute a distinct artistic tradition. He curated the original Fiasco exhibition at Art : Concept, Nice, in 1992, dedicated to Jacques Lizène, and revisited its premises more than thirty years later through Le retour du Fiasco. This collection gathers exhibition catalogues, publications and printed ephemera produced in connection with Jouannais’s curatorial and critical practice.
