Collection: Glenn O’Brien

Glenn O’Brien (1947–2017) was an American writer, editor, critic and cultural impresario whose career spanned advertising, publishing, television and the downtown New York art scene over five decades. He worked at Interview magazine under Andy Warhol from the early 1970s, hosted the public-access television programme TV Party (1978–82), and wrote the “Style Guy” column for GQ for over twenty years. With Max Blagg he co-founded Bald Ego, an art and literary magazine distributed by D.A.P. that brought together visual artists, writers and musicians across the boundary between art world and popular culture. O’Brien also wrote the screenplay for New York Beat Movie (released as Downtown 81), starring Jean-Michel Basquiat.
