Fernand Léger (1881–1955) was a French painter, sculptor and filmmaker whose work moved from Cubism toward a bold, mechanistic figuration he called Tubism. His imagery of workers, cyclists, acrobats and industrial forms made him one of the most distinctive voices in twentieth-century French modernism.
