Collection: David van de Kop

David van de Kop is a Dutch sculptor associated with the international expansion of Post-Minimalist practice in the 1970s. Among the younger generation of foreign artists included in The Condition of Sculpture at the Hayward Gallery, London (1975), he was one of only three artists commissioned to produce a new work specifically for the exhibition — alongside Carl Andre and Richard Serra — at a moment when the language of sculpture was being fundamentally reconsidered across installation, process and material. His practice sits within a broader international conversation between British and European sculpture and the American Minimalist tradition.
