Collection: Andrew Kleinzahler
August Kleinzahler (born 1949) is an American poet whose work is known for its attention to urban environments, vernacular speech, music and physical sensation. His collections include Earthquake Weather (1989), Red Sauce, Whiskey and Snow (1995) and Sleeping It Off in Rapid City (2008), which received the National Book Critics Circle Award. Kleinzahler was a close associate of the poet Basil Bunting and has written extensively on music, particularly jazz. He has contributed to Bald Ego and other downtown New York publications.
