Collection: Sol LeWitt

Sol LeWitt (1928–2007) was an American artist central to the development of conceptual art and minimalism. From the mid-1960s, LeWitt developed a practice based on the primacy of the idea: works were defined by written instructions that could be executed by others, in any location, at any time. His wall drawings, structures, and artist books established that the concept is the artwork, and its physical realisation is secondary.

LeWitt was a prolific publisher and correspondent. His Paragraphs on Conceptual Art (1967) and Sentences on Conceptual Art (1969) remain foundational texts. He produced hundreds of artist books, catalogues, and printed works throughout his career, often in collaboration with galleries and institutions in Europe and North America.

Publications gathered here include artist books, exhibition catalogues, and printed matter by and about Sol LeWitt. Original and period items.
