Collection: Sammy Cucher

Sammy Cucher (born 1958) is a Venezuelan-American artist working in photography, video, and digital media whose collaborative and solo practice has explored the body, technology, and posthuman identity since the early 1990s. Working in collaboration with Anthony Aziz as Aziz + Cucher, he produced digitally manipulated photographs in which facial features and bodily orifices are erased, producing images of uncanny corporeal closure that engaged debates around biotechnology and the limits of the human. Their work was exhibited internationally and is held in collections including the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
