Collection: Robert Morris

Robert Morris (1931–2018) was an American artist whose theoretical writings and sculptural practice were central to the formation of Minimalism and Process Art in the 1960s and 1970s. Working across sculpture, performance, land art, and felt installations, he consistently interrogated the conditions of perception, the body, and the institutional framing of art. His essay “Notes on Sculpture” (1966) became a foundational text of Minimalist theory, and his work was included in the landmark 1968 exhibition Anti-Illusion: Procedures/Materials at the Whitney Museum of American Art.
