Collection: Robert Goodnough
Robert Goodnough (1917–2010) was an American painter associated with the New York School whose fragmented, collage-like abstractions developed from his engagement with Abstract Expressionism toward a more structured, geometric vocabulary over five decades. A student of Hans Hofmann and a contributor to ARTnews, he was embedded in the critical and artistic milieu of postwar New York, exhibiting at the Tibor de Nagy Gallery and later the Emmerich Gallery. His work is held in the collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
