Collection: Mario Testino

Mario Testino (born Lima, 1954) is one of the most widely reproduced fashion and portrait photographers of the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries. Working across Vogue, Vanity Fair, and major advertising campaigns, his images defined the visual language of luxury fashion during the 1990s and 2000s — a period in which the boundaries between editorial photography, advertising, and art direction became increasingly difficult to locate.

His long collaboration with Kate Moss for Calvin Klein Jeans produced some of the most circulated fashion images of the era: black-and-white photographs that absorbed the visual economy of gallery photography into commercial distribution, then released that image into informal networks through free postcard formats, magazine pages, and retail display.

The objects gathered here are printed traces of that circulation — promotional postcards, ephemera, and distributed image-objects that record the moment when fashion photography left the controlled space of the magazine and became portable infrastructure. Each piece is a retained unit of image distribution: produced for movement, preserved in suspension.
