Julian Rosefeldt

Julian Rosefeldt (born 1965) is a German artist working primarily in film and video installation, known for large-scale, multi-channel works that subject cinematic genre, social ritual and cultural performance to careful structural analysis. His practice frequently deploys theatrical staging and duration to expose the performative codes underlying everyday and institutional behaviour. He is best known internationally for Manifesto (2015), in which Cate Blanchett performs thirteen artist manifestos across simultaneous screens. Rosefeldt has exhibited at major international institutions including the Park Avenue Armory, New York, and the Australian Centre for the Moving Image, Melbourne.
