Collection: Isaac Julien

Isaac Julien (born 1960) is a British artist and filmmaker whose multi-screen video installations and films explore race, sexuality, diaspora, and postcolonial history through a formally sophisticated visual language drawing on cinema, dance, and documentary. A founding member of Sankofa Film and Video Collective, he came to international attention with Looking for Langston (1989) and Young Soul Rebels (1991). He was nominated for the Turner Prize in 2001 and his work has been exhibited at Tate Modern, London, the Museum of Modern Art, New York, and the Venice Biennale.
