Collection: Eva Hesse

Eva Hesse (1936–1970) was a German-born American artist whose sculptures and drawings in latex, fibreglass, and rope established her as a pivotal figure in the development of Post-Minimalism. Working in New York from the early 1960s, she introduced organic irregularity, bodily association, and material vulnerability into the geometric language of Minimalism, producing works of striking formal and psychological intensity. Her work was included in the 1966 exhibition Eccentric Abstraction at the Fischbach Gallery, New York, and she was the subject of a major retrospective at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in 1972.
