David Mach (born 1956, Methil, Scotland) is a British sculptor and installation artist whose large-scale works deploy mass-produced objects — coat hangers, matchsticks, magazines, tyres — assembled into monumental figurative and architectural forms. Emerging from the New British Sculpture tendency of the early 1980s, his practice combines formal precision with a deadpan wit, often staging spectacular transformations of everyday materials into portraits, classical subjects or architectural replicas. Mach represented Britain at the 1988 Venice Biennale and has exhibited widely in group exhibitions including The Sculpture Show at the Hayward Gallery and Serpentine Gallery, London, 1983.
