Collection: Bill Culbert

Bill Culbert (1935–2015) was a New Zealand-born artist based in Britain and Provence whose practice centred on light, perception, and the behaviour of ordinary objects placed in unexpected relation. Working with fluorescent tubes, electric bulbs, and domestic materials, he developed a body of installation and sculptural work that addressed the phenomenology of illumination with wit and economy. His work was exhibited internationally and represented New Zealand at the Venice Biennale in 2013.
