A strong surviving issue from the early 1980s intersection of art criticism, theory, photography, simulation, and media culture. ZG operated between London and New York, bringing together art, film, sexuality, fashion, politics, and popular culture through a magazine format that was closer to a temporary exhibition space than a conventional journal. This issue’s collaboration with Art & Text is especially relevant: a double publication on doubling, remaking, cloning, simulation, and image culture, with Laurie Simmons, Juan Davila, Peter Halley, and Baudrillard all sitting inside the same printed field.
