Issued by the Guggenheim in 2007 in connection with Prince’s Spiritual America exhibition. The card reproduces one of Prince’s Joke paintings: borrowed comedy language — “I went to see a psychiatrist. He said, ‘Tell me everything.’ I did, and now he’s doing my act.” — transferred onto a flat ochre monochrome painted surface, then returned here to small-scale museum circulation.

A compact printed support for a practice built around repetition, appropriation, authorship, and American popular language. The joke becomes painting. The painting becomes postcard. The postcard becomes evidence of institutional circulation.

Condition: Good / very good. Light handling wear, minor surface marks, and small age spots to verso. Ships flat with protective backing; UK and international shipping available.
