Published by The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, 1950. Staple-bound picture book in printed paper wrappers, 34 pages, 18.5 × 25 cm. Illustrated throughout with monochrome photographic reproductions of bronze sculpture from antiquity through the Renaissance.

The book belongs to an early post-war expansion of museum publishing in which collections were translated into inexpensive, portable sequences of images. Bronze becomes halftone. Scale becomes pagination. Objects held within the museum re-enter circulation as paper.

Neither exhibition catalogue nor general art history, the publication functions as a reduced museum: thirty-four pages through which sculpture could travel independently of the collection that authorised it. Its worn wrappers retain evidence of that secondary movement.

Condition: Good. Age toning, marks and handling wear to wrappers; creasing and rubbing at edges and corners; small area of paper loss to lower rear wrapper. Internally generally clean, with occasional light handling marks. The visible wear records the publication's continued use and retention.

Securely packed; tracked UK and international shipping available.
